UK government backs manufacturing innovation project

The UK government has announced plans to allow businesses to apply for funding via the Industry Strategy Challenge Fund initiative to support an increase in manufacturing capacity of genomic analysis technologies.

Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation forms a section of the government’s Industry strategy Challenge fund, and will invest up to £5.0m in such projects. The grant follows an effort to boost the commercial capacity of companies in real-time and will invest in capital projects to allow existing facilities to scale-up for the manufacturing of such technologies.

The aim of the fund will be to support the UK’s world-leading research and business sectors to overcome the major industrial and societal challenges faced by industry and forms part of the government’s four year £4.7bn investment into R&D in the UK.
