Growth in Perm Placements Reaches One Year High

Tuesday, January 3, 2017

Taking data from the latest REC Report on Jobs, it’s clear that 2017 is well underway and any lingering concerns over Brexit appear to have taken a back seat.

Immediately, this is good news of course for the UK economy, but the big question over how employers will fill their vacancies remains.

February – key findings:

– Growth in permanent placements increase at quickest pace in one year.

– Demand for staff reaches an 18 month peak.

The recent budget announcement designed to support vocational training is very welcome although it won’t have an impact on the skills shortage for many years to come. Probably more concerning for Manufacturing and Engineering firms presently is the concern over the rights of EU citizens living in post-Brexit UK.

On the flip side, this continues to be a job seekers market with numerous opportunities and bumper pay offers on the table for those willing to venture into the marketplace.
