Job Description

A leading national supplier of automation products is looking to recruit an Area Sales Manager for one if it`s most lucrative branches. The role will see you run a sales team and achieve desired levels of sales. The ideal candidate will have previous managerial experience and sold in the automation industry.

Commutable from: Southampton, Eastleigh, Portsmouth, Winchester

Salary: £ 38,000 p.a. - £ 47,000 p.a. + Company Car + Bonus + Private Medical

The Role

Demonstrate effective territory planning and effective management of external and internal sales resources in order to maximise customer contact.
Planning, implementation and achievement of agreed targets for the branch.
Produce regular reports on current status, projected branch targets and forecasting.
Oversee accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness of all call plans
Support External Sales staff in developing the commercial acumen and skills required to deliver against the Value Proposition, including the coach and development of external team.
Ensure that training requirements and learning opportunities are identified through the performance review process and development review meetings.
Ensure all staff receive constructive feedback and encouragement as required and ensure that SMART objectives are set in accordance with their role.
Communicate and interface with all other branches and departments on commercial issues with a focus on continuous improvement.
Support the organisations Process & Systems Champion initiative with a proactive and collaborative approach to continuous improvement.
Lead by example demonstrating a proactive attitude to continuous personal development in terms of product knowledge and skills development.
Ensure that growth and development of the branch is achieved in line with the organisations mission and values.
Promote the full capability of the company to key customers at all times.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external suppliers
Take responsibility for sales and profitability of own set accounts.
Liaise with RSM & other ASM`s to ensure cohesive approach
Demonstrate use of best practices of the Value Proposition within key accounts within APR
Manage a ledger of circa £2.5Million+ with a defined process of "professional account management of mature accounts" to maximise potential
Take ownership and be accountable for the delivery of all company sales initiatives.
Be accountable for personal development and contribute to the evaluation of performance in line with company`s core competencies and learning and development framework

The Person

Demonstrable management experience
A good standard of education is required, particularly in Maths & English.
Ideally the role holder will be qualified to at least ONC level in electrical engineering.
Influencing and motivational skills are critical requirements for the role.
Good day to day planning capabilities are an essential for satisfactory performance
Technical interests, specialist skills and experience are important for long term success
Previous experience within a commercial / business to business sales environment is essential, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Extensive knowledge of automation and control products
Extensive Experience in Business to Business solution selling
The ability to form friendly and trusting relationships will play an important part of the role.
The role holder will be required to stand up to assertive challenges from others.
