Electronics Manufacturing Research Engineer
The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Electronics Manufacturing Research Engineer. The purpose of the role is to support activities of the electronics manufacturing theme and aid technology developments in line with industry partners needs.
The duties and responsibilities of the Electronics Manufacturing Research Engineer will include carrying out research into all aspects of PCB assembly with a focus on surface mount technology, leading new product introductions and interface with the design team as well as others in the business.
On top of this deliverables will also include:
To undertake innovative research tasks transferring technology into industry; supporting colleague`s clients and industrial members in order to deliver project requirements.
Obtaining and coordinating all manufacturing documentation / deliverables for NPI
Working with the team providing & coordinating DFM, DFA, and DFT inputs on NPI designs
Program, setup and operation of SMT assembly equipment.
Engaging on training programmes consistent with the post holders needs, aspirations and those of the MTC
The Electronics Manufacturing Research Engineer role suite someone experienced in SMT electronics manufacturing.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or above and will have solid grounding in the operation of, and the carrying out SMT programming using Aegis software and setting up SMT in readiness for the technician to assemble. In addition the candidate will have manual soldering, rework tools and general workshop skills in the use of hand. The post holder will be required to keep complete and accurate records of work undertaken as part of an experimental investigation.
