Job Description

The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) are currently recruiting a HS&E Officer to join the company. UKBIC are a leading Lithium-Ion Battery Manufacturing Technical Centre located in the West Midlands. They aim to develop the next generation of battery systems across electrode, cell, module and pack levels to allow companies to move to full scale, high volume battery manufacturing.

Salary: £ 38,000 - £ 43,000 p.a.

The Role

The HS&E Officer role will involve;

Create and maintain HSE systems and procedures.
Develop structure for standardisation of HSE management systems (OHSAS 18001/ISO 14001).
Identify potential HSE risks to the business, advise and support implementation of control measures
The HS&E Officer will promote and assist in robust accident investigations to ensure suitable & sufficient risk assessments are completed for all activities.
Completion of workplace assessments with our Occupational Health Service provider.
Ensure approval and adequate monitoring/control of on-site contractors.
Responsibility for the management of statutory inspections with external company support.
Monitor machinery compliance and conformity in conjunction with engineering department.
Completion of workplace inspections as per department schedule.
Complete COSHH assessments for new chemicals / substances.
Advise on specialist PPE requirements.
Assist in the creation of departmental HSE plans/activities.
Hold monthly meetings with managers to monitor H&S performance by area.
Accident/Incident analysis.
Provide regular communication of HSE matters to SMT and compile monthly HSE reports.
HSE in relation to high voltage technologies and environments.

The Candidate

You will be an experienced manufacturing based HSE Officer with a minimum of 5 years` experience and hold the relevant qualifications including a NEBOSH Certificate and you will have a strong mix of the following skills and experience;

Extensive knowledge of H&S Legislation.
Able to work collaboratively with manufacturing supervisors and members of Senior Management.
Able to manage time effectively and work to deadlines.
Excellent working knowledge of OHSAS 18001: 2007 SMS Standard.
Working knowledge of ISO 14001.
MS Office Suite proficiency.
