Technical Specialist - Enterprise System Development
The MTC seeks a Technical Specialist in Enterprise System development to join their Manufacturing Informatics team.
The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions.
The Technical Specialist is required to work within the Informatics teams and be responsible for client advice and system development of the next generation of enterprise systems within manufacturing and construction.
Further responsibilities and deliverables of the role include:
Support the Data & Information Systems in the development and deployment of manufacturing enterprise systems e.g. MES, ERP;
Support the requirements engineering phase and ensure that the industrial requirements are appropriately translated to the technical delivery teams;
Develop proposals for individual research projects to meet clients` needs in full;
Ensure that research work is undertaken to meet or exceed the customers` quality expectations and to project manage it within the budgets and timescales allocated to each project;
Customer and partner liaison in large collaborative projects to ensure requirements capture, project delivery, overall project direction;
Development of intelligent algorithms for driving intelligent decisions from manufacturing shop floor data;
Development of interoperability and control system solutions for smart manufacturing processes;
Technology watch and development of solutions for manufacturing digitalisation such as full Manufacturing Enterprise Systems (MES).
The successful candidate for Technical Specialist will be educated to a minimum of degree level and be able to demonstrate commercial awareness within the manufacturing and construction sector. Other desirable experience and competencies include:
At least 5 or more years` recent and substantial work experience on relevant manufacturing systems in industrial manufacturing or R&D environments;
Industrial experience of enterprise system deployments (i.e. MES, MRP, ERP, SCADA etc.);
Knowledge of Business Process Modelling (BPMN), Object Oriented Modelling, Unified Process (UML2);
Experience using SQL for data extraction and management (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL);
Experience and expert knowledge of at least one of the high level programming languages (Java, C/C++ or C#);
Technical leadership of project and work package portfolio >£250K and of strategic initiatives
