Welding Process Engineer
A leading UK Lithium-Ion battery manufacturing technical centre is looking for a Manufacturing Project Engineer with advance welding experience to support their industrial R&D scale up process focusing on cell assembly including cutting, stacking, rolling, welding, electrolyte filling and sealing.

Salary: £ 50,000 - £ 55,000 p.a.

As the Advanced Welding Process Engineer you will:
Have a strong knowledge of the following processes:
• Laser Welding (Essential)
• Ultrasonic Welding
• Ultrasonic Wire Bonding
• Laser Ribbon Welding
• Resistance Welding (Desirable)
• Pulsed Arc Welding (Desirable)
Prepares technical reports as result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations.
Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements.
Carry out research and production of Battery Cells (Pouch and Cylindrical) to support the ramp up into series productions and the associated activities, with reference to: Process Equipment Commissioning; Quality Management; Recruitment; and Team Development
To provide specialist technical recommendations, practical tools and design resolution advice for manufacturing and performance within the project.
A good honours degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering etc.)
At least 5-10 years industry experience
A strong knowledge of the welding techniques listed in the above The Role` section.
A good understanding of manufacturing engineering and industrial automation (preferably Battery cell assembly processes) within high value industries e.g.: pharmaceutical, food, tobacco
Experience in a high speed/ high volume manufacturing environment.
Experience in experimental design, data analysis and interpretation specific to Battery Cell Manufacture or comparable processes
