A Principal Research Engineer within Data and Information Systems is required to job The Manufacturing Technology Centre, The MTC is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Principal Research Engineer within Data and Information. The purpose of the role is to act as a technical consultant for projects across the MTC to support the development and delivery of projects across the MTC.

The Principal Research Engineer within Data and Information Systems remit of responsibilities will cover: To undertake innovative research work focused primarily on the Manufacturing Capability Readiness Levels (MCRLs) 5- 8; To support the Data & Information Systems in the development and deployment of projects working in the IT-OT convergence area; To support the requirements engineering phase and ensure that the industrial requirements are appropriately translated to the technical delivery teams; To develop proposals for individual research projects to meet clients` needs in full; To ensure that research work is undertaken to meet or exceed the customers` quality expectations and to project manage it within the budgets and timescales allocated to each project; To promote MTC capabilities through publications in International Journals and presentations at prestigious conferences, to Professional Bodies and Specialist Interest Groups with due consideration of confidentiality requirements associated with particular areas of research / projects;
The successful candidate for the Principal Research Engineer within Data and Information Systems will be educated to a minimum of degree level with a related discipline as well as experienced and skilled in the following: At least 5 or more years` recent and substantial work experience on relevant manufacturing systems in industrial manufacturing or R&D environments; Industrial experience of enterprise system deployments and Operational Technologies (OT) elements within manufacturing (i.e. MES, MRP, ERP, SCADA etc.); Adopt industry best practices and technologies to architect IT and OT solutions that appropriately integrate into the overall technology footprint. Knowledge of the manufacturing sector and deep understanding of manufacturing systems and technologies; Working knowledge of network security e.g. e.g. ISO27001 PAS 1192-5/6; Knowledge of Business Process Modelling (BPMN), Object Oriented Modelling, Unified Process (UML2); Experience using SQL for data extraction and management (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL); Experience and expert knowledge of at least one of the high level programming languages (Java, C/C++, C#, Python, Rust or Go); Knowledge of enterprise architectures and modelling;
