Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Principal Research Engineer Additive Manufacturing. The purpose of the role is to provide leadership and day to day line management to the metal powder bed fusion team responsible for delivering projects within the additive manufacturing department.

The key responsibilities and duties of the Principal Research Engineer Additive Manufacturing position will be split between Technical responsibilities approximately 40% and Resource Pool Management approximately 60%
These responsibilities will include: 1st tier line management and leadership to the metal powder bed fusion additive manufacturing sub-team whilst undertaking project delivery tasks. Personal development of the team. This will consist of 1:1s, appraisals etc. Identification of training and development needs of the individuals. Provide technical support and mentoring to Advanced Research Engineers, Research Engineers and Graduates in areas of expertise; Assisting and ensuring that the team meets its business objectives for growth, Cost to complete, revenue, on-time delivery and quality. Planning and assigning of resource on projects Develop projects ideas and liaise with customers, academia and MTC members to develop project ideas Develop bids with other teams, customers and members in order to win funding.
The successful candidate for the Principal Research Engineer Additive Manufacturing position will be experienced and qualified in the following:
Educated to a minimum of a Masters degree with an additive manufacturing bias. Minimum of 5 years in an Additive Manufacturing role with evidence of minimum 2 years within a team leadership or junior management position Experience and knowledge of applying manufacturing techniques and principles. Experience of operating in a customer facing role. Experience of developing proposals and undertaking customer negotiations.
