Due to the award of new programmes and continued expansion a leading manufacturer to the aerospace & defence sectors has a new vacancy for a Senior Stress Engineer. Working for this global supplier you will be involved in stress analysis on new products from evaluation of loads, calculation of stress levels and compilation on test requirements.
You will be responsible for the analysis and verification of new products, from simple hydraulics to complete systems. This includes the evaluation of loads, calculation of static & fatigue stress levels and the compilation of qualification test requirements.
Skills & Attributes:
Ability to determine loading mechanisms within structural systems though the interpretation of design data (drawings, CAD data etc.). Understanding of relevant structural requirements including familiarity with aerospace standard practices and regulations Knowledge of aerospace materials and processes with regard to strength & fatigue Determine applied loads on components by interpretation of system drawings and specifications using classical methods or computer simulation tools. Perform hand stress calculations using standard methods and data sheets. Determine fatigue life of components using classical Miners type calculations and computer simulation software. Produce Finite Element Analyses of components and systems using ABAQUS software.
Experience of stress analysis within the aerospace industry Experience of Finite Element Analysis is again essential. Experience in the use of ABAQUS and ABAQUS/CAE is preferred although training can be provided. Knowledge of fatigue analysis methods is required.
