An ambitious engineering and technology company that has envisioned the future of the low-carbon vehicle markets is looking for a Battery Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and support the transition of automotive battery modules & packs from design to production.
Salary: £ 55,000 £ 65,000 p.a. plus excellent benefits

The Battery Manufacturing Engineer role will involve; Identify manufacturing needs for new battery module and pack assemblies in development Design and support the procurement of new systems and processes and provide facilities & methods to ensure the cost-effective integration of new batteries or for the improvement of existing ones into production operations (including shop floor layout, production cell designs, fixtures and tooling). Reduce variability in manufacturing by generating production documentation such as assembly instructions. Ensure product and process quality meets specifications required. Support installation of machinery and equipment and manage the transfer and handover of new battery products from design to Production Engineering. Support problem solving and process improvement activities Carry out FMEAs, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) process documentation and implement improvements Support Production Engineering with process or quality issues in battery assembly and test Contribute to continuous improvement activities. Write reports and present progress at project meetings and to clients.
The successful Battery Manufacturing Engineer will have; A relevant manufacturing / engineering degree. Prior experience in a similar role including the design of processes and production layouts a high-volume manufacturing environment. Experience with Lithium-Ion Battery Manufacturing or Assembly for automotive applications is highly desirable. Experience of DFMEA / PFMEA, Kaizen/A3 (continuous improvement and problem solving) process improvement and Poka Yoke (error proofing) techniques Understanding of design and production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work Experience of UN38.3 standard of testing and transportation of lithium-ion batteries. A strong understand of lean manufacturing.
