The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager - Power & Energy. The purpose of the role is the support the growth of the Power & Energy sector by working with identified key prospective clients, developing strategic account plans, qualifying and closing new opportunities.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the newly formed Power and Energy sector team at the Manufacturing Technology Centre to develop opportunities identified across the Renewable Energy sector into high impact projects. You will provide clients with access to the breadth of technologies and capabilities at its Coventry site. As a Business Development Manager, you will identify and establish strong working relationships with key contacts across the Renewable Energy Sector, develop joint action plans and deliver client centric solutions. You will have a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, have proven revenue generating business development experience and be skilled in complex sales. You will be comfortable working at a C Suite Director level.

As part of the role you will:
Deliver revenue growth within the Power & Energy sector
Proactively own, maintain and expand key customer / prospect relationships
Identify opportunities within existing customer base and external market to create mutual value
Understand customer`s technological and strategic roadmaps, needs and requirements
Develop and maintain strategic/key account plans
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to provide world class outcomes
Lead generation, pipeline management and reporting through the phases of opportunity identification, validation, qualification and closing.

The Person

The successful candidate for the Senior Business Development Manager – Power & Energy role will possess the following attributes:

A driven, business-winning mindset with strong influencing skills, a good appreciation of technology, excellent communication skills, creative thinking to construct opportunities and a completer/finisher approach to ensure projects are delivered.
A technical background with ideally a level of exposure to industrial/manufacturing sectors and a technically focused degree particularly engineering would be beneficial.
A recognised team player who is driven to initiate and grow new relationships with clients, possessing situational awareness, emotional intelligence and the ability to build rapport quickly with customers.
Able to engage successfully with prospective clients with no prior knowledge MTC`s activity
Experience of working within the Power & Energy sector or connected sector with a developed understanding of engineering/manufacturing organisations particularly in the Renewable Energy field.
A client-facing professional with proven ability to form lasting business relationships and conversant with sales and proposal development techniques such as Huthwaite ‘SPIN` methodology, Strategic Account Planning and Proposal Development.
