A leading research and development organisation with a range of fascinating industrial collaborations is seeking a Principal Engineer focused on battery safety within the aerospace electrification sector supporting a broad client base. The role is initially available on a two-year fixed term contract.
The Principal Engineer will support collaborative research with a range of partners from start-ups to multi-national businesses within the field of technical leadership for battery safety including heat transfer/propagation across the research projects. The Principal Engineer will represent the organisation as a recognised battery safety expert and identify the key challenges within battery safety for the UK`s industrial needs. The role will involve a high level of collaborative interaction within industrial and academic/research partners on topics including functional safety, high voltage safety and thermal containment.
The Principal Engineer will possess a technical/scientifically focused degree, proven research experience within a collaborative setting and a high level of knowledge on battery technology particularly with regard to safety and thermal management. The Principal Engineer will have a technical leadership background and be conversant with battery control systems, risk management and relevant safety standards applicable to battery technology. Previous experience within automotive or aerospace electrification is highly advantageous for the position.
