The Senior Technician for mechanical testing will support mechanical testing on cables and pipe products used on construction and infrastructure sectors. The purpose of the role is to conduct accurate and appropriate testing (fire safety, security, certification, sustainability) alongside the appropriate record-keeping and data management needed. You will support setting up the laboratory to perform both destructive and non-destructive testing on cables and piping whilst ensuring safe installation, commissioning and calibration of testing equipment. You will have exposure to clients to support their products going through testing and approval procedures and enjoy regular interaction with internal project stakeholders.
The successful applicant will possess proven laboratory experience within mechanical testing and be ideally conversant with UKAS accreditation procedures. You will be well-versed in writing test and inspection reports and handling data sets in addition to possessing experiencing working in a testing environment facing multiple 3rd party customers and their differing requirements. Previous experience testing cables or piping against defined national and international standards is highly advantageous for the role alongside possessing excellent communication skills to directly interact with customers.
