A rapidly expanding manufacturer of complex systems to the automotive industry has a new vacancy for a Senior Buyer to join the team. You will be responsible for sourcing and negotiating the purchasing of goods and materials to ensure operational needs are met. This includes establishing and developing a continuous, reliable supply chain.



Commutable from: Northampton, Milton Keynes, Daventry, Towcester, Banbury, Leamington Spa, Bicester, Buckingham.


Salary: £ 40,000 - £ 45,000 p.a. plus benefits


Suitable for: Project Buyer, Senior Buyer, Buyer, Procurement Officer, Purchasing Manager.



The Role


Working for an innovative organisation, candidates will be responsible for improving and developing purchasing and procurements activities, including supply chain improvements, delivering cost savings, contract negotiation and agreeing supplier arrangements.

Key responsibilities:


Purchase of goods, materials, services and components in line with deliver targets

Communicate any supply issues to the wider business

Be the main interface with suppliers and establishing a reliable supplier base

Drive supply chain improvements

Monitor market trends and competitor strategies

Work closely with Project Manager to ensure costs and timescales are met

Negotiating supplier agreements and improve prices

Providing cost analysis and reports

Prepare and raise purchase orders

Maintain strong supplier relationships

Evaluate supplier and contribute to performance reviews to ensure compliance



The Person:


An accomplished purchasing professional, candidates are sought with strong and effective negotiation skills, a proven track record of supplier development and you will ideally have worked in the automotive and/or manufacturing sectors.


An understanding of both commercial and operational aspects of procurement, you must have strong communication skills with the confidence and ability to work with senior management/suppliers and identifying areas to reduce costs and improve business opportunities.
