Starting a career in recruitment

Welcome to Billy Gray who has joined us working as a Resource Consultant. Recruitment is a new career to Billy so we thought we would take the time to find out how Billy is getting on.

What is your background?

My background is in customer service and music.

As someone new to recruitment what attracted you to starting a career in recruitment?

The fast-paced nature and working with people is what attracted me towards a career in recruitment. I have always wanted to work in more of a sales led environment and the thought of matching up the right candidates with the perfect job seems very rewarding.

How have you found your first few weeks?

I have learnt a lot in my first few weeks and have enjoyed the on-the-job aspect of my training. I’ve felt welcomed into the company and have gotten to know everyone quickly.

What made you choose to join Consilium?

I have a friend who has previously worked for the company and recommended that it is a good place to work with career development opportunities. I have previously worked for much larger companies where there is more of a disconnect between management and staff, so the fact it is a smaller company which I can develop in is what also attracted me to Consilium.

Tell us something interesting about yourself

I studied Music at university and have built up a self-employed business since then playing saxophone.  I have performed at various events across the country and abroad, including venues such as Annabelle’s Mayfair, Amante Ibiza, Soho house and performing for 80’s pop artist Paul Hardcastle.
