Job Description

A manufacturer of precision components has a new vacancy for a Toolmaker. Working for a recognised and leading organisation you will have previous toolmaking experience and worked in precision engineering.

Commutable from: Exeter, Exmouth, Newton Abbott, Yeovil, Barnstable, Torquay, Tiverton, Plymouth, Oakhampton, Minehead, Taunton.

Salary: £ 28,000 - £ 32,000 p.a. + benefits

Suitable for: Toolmaker, Tool Maintenance, Tooling Engineer, Tool Maker

The Role

Assembling, fitting and repairing and maintain press tools
Following engineering drawings or reference CAD models
Using machinery such as lathes, presses, milling machines and grinders to cut and shape the tools
Using NC and CNC milling machines
Using precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges and vernier calipers to check the tool`s dimensions
Monitoring the tools used on the manufacturing line to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs or possible improvements
Attending machine breakdowns to identify the root cause and solve the problem
Assisting with tool maintenance
Design and manufacture small mould tools, jigs and fixtures
Be actively involved in continuous improvement initiatives and providing input using your expert knowledge.

The Person

An experienced Toolmaker you will have a recognised apprenticeship plus CNC / NC Machining training. With the ability to perform well under time constraints you will have worked in precision engineering and be competent at detailed and routine tasks.
