Job Description

This leading global automotive engineering, manufacturing and assembly business is actively seeking to appoint an experienced Process Design Engineer who will be responsible for the design and the definition of gripping hands, fitting, assembly stations, test and tooling equipment.

Commutable from: Birmingham, Coventry, Halesowen, Solihull, Tamworth

Salary: £ 32,000 - £ 40,000 p.a. + 12.5% Bonus + BUPA + Pension + Benefits

The Role

The Process Design engineer will undertake the design of new lines and associated equipment according to the design rules and changes of equipment when required based on the design guidelines, the group`s standards as well as the norms and specifications and in compliance with the Quality, Costs and Delivery targets. The role will involve;

Define the grippers and the different assembly and test equipment in conjunction with the development teams.
Carry out the dimensioning diagram and the digital definitions for all designs.
Carry out the detail drawings with particular attention to tolerances and detail.
Contribute to technical meetings, project reviews, and take an active role in plan reviews.
Liaise with the engineering teams in Europe as well as manufacturing, process and production teams on site in the UK.

The Person

You will be an experienced Manufacturing based Process Design Engineering professional with a hands-on design and CAD background and you will have a strong mix of the following skills and experience;

A solid command of 3D CAD tools (Solidworks, Catia or Pro-Engineer) and ISO dimensioning diagrams.
Autonomy with the ability to put forward suggestions, creative simple designs that meet both customer requirements as well as internal company standards.
A good understanding of general mechanical engineering, pneumatics and hydraulics, more
specifically design rules and layout drawings.
A good understanding of FMEA resources and risks mode analysis.
