Job Description

A leading sustainable technologies company are looking for a number of Research Scientists to join their development team, responsible for coordinating multiple scale sampling, engineering and synthesis of next generation lithium ion battery materials for external customers. These roles will be hands-on developing new materials for multiple external customer needs. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative team, obtain exposure to the process of technology transfer and build skills specific to the battery materials industry.

The Role

The Research Scientist will be responsible for conducting the lab-scale synthesis of nickel-based mixed metal oxides by various methods; drive the understanding between material and electrochemical properties to engineer new products of commercial value
As Research Scientist you will conduct key characterisation and quality control (automotive standard) assessments throughout the synthetic process
The Research Scientist will maintain detailed technical records and prepare reports on request
You will have exposure to product innovation and process scale up teams; giving you the opportunity to see innovations being developed and delivered to customers

The Candidate

Successful Research Scientist candidates will Hold an A level or equivalent in Chemistry; preferably graduated with a BSc or equivalent in Chemistry or a related subject; alternatively, demonstrable experience in a related field will also be considered
Experienced with the synthesis and characterisation of metal oxides; experience working with nickel-based materials would be an advantage.
Experienced at managing data sets and relating materials properties to performance.
Excellent, versatile and timely written skills; capture technical details in documents that will transfer into JM scale-up methodologies and effectively engage with language specific to IP applications and other Company functions
Ability to travel domestically is also essential.
