Job Description

Working with a high profile Research and Development organisation that operates as a collaborative centre of excellence between a leading Midlands university and a globally recognisable engineering group, they are seeking a Metrology Technician to provide measurement support in the Metrology Lab.

The Role

Working on-site at a £40m research facility, you will work as a part of a hands-on technical team within the casting research areas supporting innovative work on projects for core, wax, shell, cast, chemical leach and etch and measurement/inspection. As Metrology Technician you will undertake technical support in the inspection of components to engineering drawings, CAD models or customer specific requirements. This primarily involves the operation of CMM, GOM, XCT equipment.

The Person

You will possess proven experience within casting sector or alternatively a desire to cross-train to a new discipline having already established credibility in another sector such as moulding, machining, composites manufacturing, advanced measurement and inspection or forging technologies.

The successful candidate for Metrology Technician will have previous experience of operating metrology equipment and be able to read engineering drawings and CAD Models.

Please note: you will potentially required to undertake training on a residential basis at a partner site for a period of approximately six months, this can involve some shift rotations including weekends. After completion of training, the roles revert to a standard days basis, Monday to Friday.
