The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a CNC Technician. The purpose of the role is to provide technical support for the MTC workshop to meet the needs of the research programmes and deliver value to our clients and stake holders
This is a permanent position working primarily on a day shift basis with flexibility to accommodate a rotating double day shift pattern during busy periods. You will undertake hands-on responsibility for programming to 5 axis level and machining components using CNC machining centres often working from engineering drawings and/or CAD/CAM data. Programmes are required to be verified using Vericut and ideally exposure to NX, SolidWorks or Hypermill will be advantageous.
Additionally you will carry out routine maintenance to machines and ensure a clean and safe working environment at all times. The role offers a fascinating opportunity to be involved in high profile, innovative engineering programmes at the forefront of technological developments in manufacturing.
Applicants will possess proven CNC machining experience and ideally be apprentice-trained or equivalent with a keen interest and passion in building a career in engineering. You will have previously made decisions on machining projects yourself including setting and programming machines ideally Matsuura and/or Mazak and be conversant with basic machining centre maintenance. Additionally, manual machining skills and the ability to inspect your own work using first principles are highly valued for this role.
