Job Description

IT Network Support Engineer position has become available at The Manufacturing Technology Centre. The MTC is a UK success story. - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions.

The Role

The IT Network Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting all functional elements of the network including:
CheckPoint firewalls,
Aruba/Comware/Procurve switches
Aruba Wireless, VPN and RAP technologies
Aruba Airwave, HP IMC, Aruba Clearpass
Physical auditing and management of infrastructure
Cabling and patching.
Liaising with vendors (ISP, Hardware suppliers, cabling contractors etc).
Keeping comprehensive documentation.
Working to build and maintain a robust network support offering as part of the IT Infrastructure team.
Delivery of the networking elements of both IT and client projects, from design to BAU changes.

The Person

The successful candidate for the IT Network Support Engineer will hold a relevant IT qualification ideally CCNA, have at least 2 years experience working in a network support role and will be experienced and capable of:
Networking fundamentals such as the OSI Model and TCP/IP stack.
Knowledge of Scripting and automation.
Experience working with some of the following platforms: Aruba OS, Procurve, Comware, HPe IMC, Aruba Clearpass/Airwave/VIA/RAP.
Working knowledge of the network services required by a network to function and be manageable, such as DHCP, DNS, NTP, RADIUS and SNMP.
Ability to balance different workloads, prioritising work as necessary to get it delivered.

It is essential that all candidates have the capability of gaining Security Clearance due to the nature of some industries The MTC operate in.
