Job Description

A world leading manufacturer are working with a well-known sailing team to support a challenge for the American Cup title. To assist them in this they require a Senior Electrical Technician. Your role will be to have a lead role in the build and installation of EDS, harness, HMI, custom enclosures sensors and onboard logging systems. Carry out day-to-day checks and test of all electrical and electronic systems on the boat and associated test rigs and support vessels. This includes the harnessing, electrical-power, control, instrumentation and logging.

Salary: £ 60,000 - £ 70,000 p.a. (fixed term contract until April 2021)

The Role:

As the Senior Electrical Technician your role will include but not be limited to the following:

Specification and procurement - working with our procurement team to procure appropriate parts and ensure parts are delivered ready to install on time.
Manufacture and installation – working closely with external contractors on Harness build with the ability and knowledge carry out harness builds and modifications using the Rayfast 25 system.
Control, calibration and setup – assisting to ensure the entire system is to set up, configured and functions correctly.
Maintenance and trouble-shooting - finding and fixing problems, ensuring all issues are understood and addressed.
On the water support – providing support during sailing days, ensure daily configurations are correct and carry out pre and post systems checks.

The Candidate:

Intelligent and technically sharp with a good understanding of Rayfast 25 system, autosport connectors, prototyping and custom enclosure builds.
Working and installing equipment designed to work in harsh environments where high standards and rigorous testing are the norm.
Ability to follow a schematic and understand the network topologies. Ability to fault find in complex harnesses with experience of hipot testing.
Some experience in data analysis and calibration tools would be desirable
Some experience of configuring and troubleshooting basic WIFI / VLAN networks would be desirable.
A very high standard of care and attention to the quality and cleanliness of your work, and your working environment is essential.
A flexible approach to working hours and the ability to work well under pressure is central to this role, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
