Job Description

The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Materials Characterisation Technician on a fixed term contract for a period of 6 months. The purpose of the role is to support the Metallurgy Lab with metallurgical preparation and assessment tasks.

The Role

The Materials Characterisation Technician will be responsible for carrying out metallurgical preparation and assessment of samples to customer requirements.
Operate a range of lab equipment such as abrasive cutters, mounting press, grinder-polishers, optical microscopes and Scanning Electron Microscopy.
Ensure confidentiality requirements associated with particular research projects are maintained.
To support other staff members within the metallurgy labs.

The Person

The successful candidate for the Materials Characterisation Technician will demonstrate technical capabilities working with a wide variety of metallurgical samples including titanium, nickel, aluminium and steel.
You will be a team player with good interpersonal skills with some exposure to working in a collaborative manner.
This role will ideally require a person who is qualified to level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline.
