Job Description

A fully integrated ‘life science` company that provides healthcare enabling products, services and research programs is currently looking for a Cell Line Engineering Manager to join their company to advance their rapidly growing product catalogue and research programmes. In this role you will generate in-vitro models for fee-paying commercial clients, deliver platform scalability through testing and implementation of new automated laboratory processes and technologies; and take an active role in product and services development under the direction of the Head of Cell Line Engineering.

Salary: £ 50,000 - £ 55,000 p.a. + Benefits

The Role:

As the Cell Line Engineering Manager, you will:
Actively drive productivity to ensure all projects fulfil the customers` requirements within budget and on time.
To work alongside two other managers in the Cell line engineering Group to enable cost effective deployment of all people, materials, processes, systems and equipment.
Implement and develop new automated processes and technology improvements.
Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards and disciplinary action, with the assistance of HR Business Partner when necessary.
Support the Project Management Office in assessing technical feasibility of prospective customer projects.
Empower employees to take responsibility for their roles and goals. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
Maintain transparent communication. Appropriately communicate organisation information through one-to-one meetings, email and regular interpersonal communication.
Provide regular accurate updates to the Head of Cell Line Engineering and project managers.
Manage the recruitment process, identify key skills for the ideal candidates, shortlist, conduct interviews and select new hires.

The Candidate:

You should have a proven experience as a strong manager, ideally in cross functional teams, with multiple direct reports.
A track record of implementing new process and technology, ideally in laboratory automation and cell line engineering.
Have practical experience of in-vitro gene editing techniques with strong molecular and cell biology skills, allowing for data interpretation and troubleshooting of technical processes.
Should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, close-knit team environment and on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities and deadlines, be well organised, self-motivated and have excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
