Job Description

A British Engineering Company supplying systems to some the most well know automotive OEM`s in the world are seeking a Purchasing Manager. You will be an experienced and educated procurement professional with commercial expertise.

Commutable from: Worcester, Droitwich, Droitwich-Spa, Redditch, Stourbridge, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Alcester, Worcestershire, Warwickshire,

Salary: £ 45,000 to £ 50,000 p.a. plus generous health plan, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Suitable for: Purchasing manager, procurement manager, senior buyer, materials manager, supply chain manager, supplier manager, purchasing executive

The Role

As a Purchasing Manager you will;
Develop commodity strategy in line with business requirements
Negotiate with internal customers and/or suppliers in terms of contractual agreement
Maintain the regular contact with current/potential suppliers to develop/maintain commercially competitive business partnership
Work closely with and develop the existing supplier base to ensure the supplier base achieves the best possible rating
Implement the strategy and monitor the progress to ensure achieving cost down targets
Managing a team of 6 (buyers, planners, coordinators)

The Person

The successful Purchasing Manager will be;
Hands on experience in production or manufacturing environment for 5 + years
Fully or partially qualified with CIPS or studying towards currently
Automotive experience would be ideal
Experience managing and motivating a team
Hands on experience in supplier site audit and high volume production
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing such as JIT and 5S.
