A brand-new battery manufacturing facility for the automotive industry called UKBIC (UK Battery Industrialisation Centre) is currently looking to employ a Chemistry Lead. This position will focus on industrialisation of cell chemistry, materials formulation, characterisation relative to scale up production activities.
Commutable From: Coventry, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Stratford upon Avon, Birmingham.
Salary: £48,000 - £55,000 p.a. + Pension.
As the Chemistry Lead you will: Apply deep levels of scientific knowledge to projects, including feasibility evaluation. Characterise materials, electrodes and designs to support decision making. Communicate clearly electrochemistry results and findings to cross functional team members and senior management. Support product quality Component material selection approval Support cell Echem performance validation & test activities. Functional Safety risk assessments, with support work Manage data set Support modelling of lithium-ion cells. Manage 3rd party subcontracts and external laboratories Communicate with the Research Community
>3yrs commercial experience Minimum MSc/MChem degree (2:1 degree or better) in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent with a demonstrable level of experience in a related field. Significant experience in lithium ion batteries (ideally automotive but not essential) A strong working knowledge and understanding of electrochemistry, material science in a commercial environment Experience of small team supervision beneficial (Scientists, laboratory Technicians) Previous Research experience in energy storage in different types of metal oxide batteries or super capacitor technology
