A leading UK Lithium-Ion Battery Manufacturing Technical Centre is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Lead to focus on Mechanical design activities to support baseline products and design evaluation of customer proposals.
Responsibility for all Mechanical Design Activities; this includes product data management ownership, component and material selection. Responsibility for both manufacture and assembly design evaluations at battery cell, module and pack level. Assessment of test and simulation results i.e. Thermal CFD and Structural FEA. Product assembly support and Characterisation of product problems and technical challenges. Functional Safety risk assessments with support work.
The Successful Mechanical Engineering Lead will be:
Qualified to a Degree level in Mechanical / Design Engineering or Mechatronics. Possess 4 years experience minimum ideally within the automotive industry. Experience in design and development of electro mechanical or electro chemical products. A solid understanding of High Voltage Battery fundamentals. Significant experience with CREO CAD & Windchill PDM. Knowledge on analysis packages beneficial (ANSYS Fluent, MathCAD, COSMOL, MATLAB). A working knowledge of automotive quality standards TS16949, ISO9001 and those specific to battery design and manufacture is desirable. Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IMechE), ideally Chartered.
