The purpose of the Systems Engineering Technical Specialist role is to provide leadership and day to day technical management to a team responsible for delivering projects. In addition, the candidate will be expected to oversee the management of projects, undertake technical tasks, and assist the business with technology and strategy development.

The Systems Engineering Technical Specialist will be responsible for: To provide 1st tier technical management and leadership whilst undertaking project delivery tasks. This will typically include: Assisting and ensuring that the team delivers projects in line with MTC objectives of revenue, on-time delivery, and quality. Technical project management of large projects and programmes of work >£250k; Independent undertaking of technical deliverables and supporting team members in technical delivery of their projects. Planning and development of future technology, in line with organisation roadmaps. Provide technical support and mentoring to team members. Support training and development of team members. In support of the sector technology roadmaps, develop projects ideas and liaise with customers and MTC members in order to win funding. Customer and partner liaison in large collaborative projects to ensure requirements capture, project delivery and overall project direction. Working with business development to grow order book and win new projects/customers. This will include customer liaison, presenting team capabilities and proposal writing. Own career development through mentoring coaching and training course. Support the Technology Manager in capability building within the team.
The successful candidate for the Systems Engineering Technical Specialist will be: A BSc/BEng degree or equivalent in an appropriate engineering subject. Preferably 10 years industrial experience with mechanical Systems Engineering Excellent communication and report writing skills. Demonstrable knowledge of problem solving tools and error-proofing techniques. Can demonstrate a firm understanding of engineering principles. Experience of application of Design For X` with experience generating 3D models and manufacturing drawings The ability to justify manufacturing process selection, with knowledge and experience of principal theory, and preferably in implementation Awareness and/or familiarity of business case generation, PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects analysis), DoE (Design of Experiments) and KPV (Key Process Variable) identification INCOSE Chartered professional qualification is desirable
