The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Design for Additive Manufacturing - Senior Research Engineer. The purpose of the role is to lead the development of, and benchmark, the end-to-end design process for Additive Manufacturing.
The Design for Additive Senior Research Engineer will be responsible for:
Generating new project ideas in alignment with the theme`s strategy. Leading the development of proposals and the engagement with existing customers to win repeat business. Setting up partnerships with software providers in the DfAM space and with research centres across the UK. Leading the evaluation of AM design software and dataset handling. Leading and deliver innovative research projects, transferring technology into industry and supporting colleagues, clients and Industrial Members in order to deliver project requirements. This includes support for the Line Manager & Senior staff in the organisation of required resources (people, equipment, marketing collateral and MTC facilities) needed to deliver research projects. Supporting MTC designers in the use of advanced geometric modelling techniques. Providing technical leadership, mentoring and coaching to other staff while undertaking training to progress your own career development. Ensuring that work is undertaken to meet or exceed the customers` quality expectations and within the budgets and timescales allocated. Tasks may include: researching technologies, benchmarking, down-selection, preparing technical reports, presenting work to customers, producing concepts, implementing solutions, devising and undertaking experiments.
The suitable candidate for the Design for Additive Senior Research Engineer will possess the following: Degree qualified within a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgy or Manufacturing Engineering. Previous experience of manufacturing processes related to Additive Manufacturing techniques. Demonstrable experience of having a designer`s approach to applying technologies. Ability to deconstruct and map engineering processes Strong understanding of design software specifically for additive manufacture. Has lead and delivered complex projects within additive manufacturing. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues at all levels. Commercial awareness to identify new opportunities in line with customer strategies. Ability to write technical proposals and write ups.
