An exciting new company specialising in Electric Machines and Power Electronics are looking for an experienced Principal Power Electronics Control Systems Engineer. You will be involved at all stages of the design and development process, liaising directly with customers, and the engineering team to provide and deliver effective engineering solutions. Responsible for the inception, development and release of 48-1200V power electronics (ie. multi-phase inverters) and integrated control systems for our new scaleable e-module technology in high performance Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial applications.
As the Principal Power Electronics Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the; Working with the Chief Engineers to plan systems software architecture Design and implement control algorithms for electric machines in Simulink and C/C++. Develop fault detection and mitigation strategies, particularly in-context of ISO26262 Development HIL and SIL test systems and implement software validation using these in coordination with the overall development processes Test and calibrate software in dyno environment and in application which may include high performance vehicles in track and on-road environments.
Three to five years` experience of power electronics development for advanced applications Hold a relevant qualification, ideally a Degree in mechanical, aerospace or electrical engineering or similar Knowledge and experience of control of Low voltage DC switching systems up to 1500VDC, instrumentation and control systems and Variable Speed Drives Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++ software development. Experience or working understanding of multiple motor topologies and their control Experience developing motor control software (emphasis on field-oriented control) Solid understanding of PM motor power electronics (gate drive circuitry, modulation techniques) Experience with version/configuration tools Experience of lean / agile software development and quality management processes
