An exciting new company specialising in Electric Machines and Power Electronics are looking for an experienced Lead Power Electronics Engineer. You will be involved at all stages of the design and development process, liaising directly with customers, and the engineering team to provide and deliver effective engineering solutions. Responsible for the inception, development and release of 48-1200V power electronics (ie. multi-phase inverters) and integrated control systems for our new scaleable e-module technology in high performance Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial applications.
The Role: As the Lead Power Electronics Engineer, you will; Working with the Chief Engineers to plan overall hardware and software architecture Optimization of the system level product architecture working with the supply chain to identify optimal sub-system technologies Planning of system configuration to address functional safety, reliability, robustness and cost Leadership in the design of low and high voltage motor electronics (power and controls) Manage electronics design and development projects including specification and requirement capture including design for manufacture and assembly Oversee the complete development testing, validation and verification plans Support fault finding and debugging of designs by review as well as hands on testing Undertake schematic capture, PCB design and circuit simulation Prepare and release component specifications, Bill of Materials and drawings Specification / development of production test equipment Manage / coordinate engineering changes and maintain detailed design records Mentor junior engineers
The Candidate Five to ten years experience of power electronics development for advanced applications Hold a relevant qualification, ideally a Degree in an engineering related subject Knowledge and experience with Low voltage DC switching systems up to 1500VDC, instrumentation and control systems and Variable Speed Drives Experience of functional safety engineering, Knowledge of best practice for system design both safety and noise (EMI) immunity, experience with clean and dirty earth systems Capable in designing and documenting electrical circuits and panels in 2D CAD systems, including wiring schematics, P&ID circuits and layout drawings Ideally some experience with PLC systems
