An evolving motor vehicle manufacturer approaching a defining point within their history are seeking a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to develop supplier quality planning to ensure maximum supplied part approval when beginning a brand new manufacturing project.
This is a contract position where your main role will be to initiate, drive and develop the Quality planning (APQP and similar) aiming towards 100% supplied part approval. You will support for the purchasing department and supplier development process development activities by conducting supplier audits. By using processes such as PPAP and PFMEA you will approve supplied parts and provide up to date information for a flawless launch path. Key accountabilities include: Supplied parts approval, Supplier liaison, APQP Process and completion, problem solving and process auditing. Understand dimensional errors in steel door inner fabrications, SMC body panels and SMC roof panels. Understand the related issues at the supplier (tooling, fixtures, people, processes) Confirm and report the corrective actions needed that will bring these dimensions back to spec Drive the completion of the corrective actions within an agreed timeframe. Provide a daily update of progress and/or escalation needed to the SQA Manager.
Ideally you will be degree or HNC qualified with relevant experience in an SQA/SQD role within an automotive engineering environment. Proven experience of APQP, PPAP, 8D Problem solving, process capability and process auditing as well as working with European and Asian suppliers. A strong communicator and team player who is customer focussed and able to work autonomously at a supplier`s site.
