A CNC Workshop Business Unit Leader (Chief Engineer) role has arisen at The Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry. The MTC is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a highly skilled Production Manager / Director to take on the MTCs cutting edge CNC and Additive Manufacturing workshop.
As the Chief Engineer you will be reporting directly to the Operations Director and will lead the; Production Management, Resource allocation, Equipment Maintenance, Quality standards across cutting edge technology in Metrology, CNC / Subtractive machining and Additive Manufacturing research themes. This new role is needed to introduce an effective Manufacturing Management System (MMS) to help deliver on key areas such as On Time Delivery, Right First Time, budget performance, equipment utilisation, revenue generation, cost reduction etc. The Workshop Business Unit Leader will apply strategic and operational capabilities to ensure the smooth running of operations across our rapidly expanding business. Lead the project team delivering an appropriate business organisation that support the aims and objectives or the workshop organisation. Delivery of robust system and practices to continuously deliver high performance as our workshop environment hosts up to 30,000 visitors a year as part of the MTC customer engagement activities and as a result key metrics will include the need create a highly presentable workshop. To identify and pursue new opportunities for exploitation of research as it moves into higher TRLs, build great teams, develop trust and create an organisation culture that integrates with the research teams.
The ideal candidate for the Chief Engineer will require an enhanced security clearance and will have a degree in a related discipline for the role requirements. You will promote and implement policies and systems to ensure compliance with current legislation and best practice, in particular in the area of health, safety and environment considering the visitors and staff safety at all times. You will have a good understanding of high value manufacturing processes and systems with sound commercial and financial awareness. The role needs you to be able to operate and report to board level while leading a team will skills across fresh apprentices to highly skilled hands on and research engineers. You will have a great attention to detail with a high level of personal integrity.
