Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Laser Processing Research Engineer. The purpose of the role is to support the growth of the laser processing group research theme.

The key responsibilities and duties of this Laser Processing Research Engineer position will include: to undertake innovative research work focused primarily on the laser processing area in particular support the surface engineering team to develop the extensive portfolio of projects and laser equipment in the texturing for surface functionality area to develop proposals for individual research projects to meet clients` needs in full. to ensure that research work is undertaken to meet or exceed the customers` quality expectations and to project manage it within the budgets and timescales allocated to each project; to promote MTC capabilities through publications in International Journals and presentations at prestigious conferences, to Professional Bodies and Specialist Interest Groups with due consideration of confidentiality requirements associated with particular areas of research / projects;
The successful candidate for the Laser Processing Research Engineer position will be experienced and qualified in the following: educated to a minimum of a Masters degree with a laser processing bias. Knowledge of at least one laser processing area such as welding, texturing, machining or polishing is required. Ideally experience with using lasers for improving surface functionality should be had. An appreciation of surface engineering and/or material characterisation is also required, with a focus on the interaction of industrial lasers with different materials. The ability to work within a team, and develop a network across a range of technology themes is also advantageous
