The Manufacturing Technology (MTC) is a research centre opening within Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) 4-7, taking academic research and maturing it to the point where it can be exploited by industry. The creation of Business Launch centre (BLC) enables higher TRL levels (7 to 9) to be supported including incubation of prototype to pilot line production to be supported. The centre is currently focussed on a number of channels including start-up companies, entrepreneurs and investment markets. Needs to understand investment markets and will be exposed to investors from various backgrounds who support technology based companies. As the Head of Business Unit you will be responsible for the strategic development and tactical implementation of business activity in order to achieve yearly budgets You will drive an active pipeline of Business Development to ensure year on year targets are achieved as agreed with the Director of Business Launch Centre Ltd You will develop active marketing plans with the marketing team to help promote the MTC Business Launch Centre Brand and raise market awareness of the support actives available to entrepreneurs and start-up companies You will have direct reporting responsibility for your own team within within MTC BLC and act as mentor and champion for MTC BLC in co-ordination, guidance and support from all MTC themes whilst developing and growing the business unit You will be maintain key relationships especially within one to many organisations such as banks, insurance investment and corporate finance departments of member organisations and contact support strategy required to assist in developing next level operational project engagements
As the ideal candidate for the Head of Business Unit you will ideally have knowledge of financial markets, investments, Venture Capital ad Seed Stage Investors Balance sheets and financial statements of P&L of prospect companies Business Development techniques, business plans and methodologies Manufacturing and production benchmarking Manufacturing change management and human factors Presentations and guest speaking at events including supporting exhibition stands
Knowledge of the following would be advantageous:
Manufacturing and process simulations tools e.g. Discrete Event Simulation Manufacturing systems such as MES Financial and supply chain modelling Factory automation and robotics
