Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Team Leader, Senior Research Engineer within Laser Processing.
The purpose of the role is to provide line management to the department team members and ensure they are appropriately utilised according to their competencies and capacity to coordinate the delivery of innovative manufacturing research projects in the area of fusion welding technologies.

The key responsibilities and duties of the Laser Team Leader, Senior Research Engineer within Laser Processing will include: To use specialist knowledge to manage a portfolio, transferring technology into industry through the technology readiness levels (TRL`s) Manage their time and portfolio effectively to achieve on-time delivery and budgetary control Line manage a team of engineers ensuring their development and career paths are reflected in their PDR objectives Maintain the team competency matrix, identify competency gaps and allocate work accordingly. Work with the laser processing leadership team to identify areas of opportunity Technically deliver tasks and projects to a quality, in-line with what the MTC and our customers` demands and the budget expectations
The successful candidate for the Team Leader, Senior Research Engineer within Laser Processing will be experienced and qualified in the following: Experience of team management (>5 years), both on a project and as a line manager Experience using business metrics to monitor and manage the performance of a team Experience writing proposals to meet customer needs A BSc or BEng degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Aerospace or Welding Engineering Experience in implementing innovative welding / cladding or additive manufacturing processes working knowledge of the fundamentals of fusion welding technologies (arc & laser) A working knowledge of automated welding equipment (arc or laser)
