A British automotive company that manufactures sports cars and racing cars is currently seeking a Propulsion Research Principal Engineer. This position is the foundation of the propulsion research team. As well as developing ideas and kicking off projects there will be a significant requirement for growing the team and demonstrating the effective operation of the research entity processes.
The purpose of the Principal Engineer Propulsion Research is to develop and lead one of the teams responsible for research projects from idea generation up to delivery team handover maturity. The successful applicant will be responsible for: Initialising and progressing research projects in line with Lotus research framework and timing targets. Establishing and maintaining strategic industrial and academic partnerships. Planning future projects including resource and funding requirements. Growing the research team in line with expanding demand for output. Successfully realising external funding opportunities for individual and collaborative projects. Developing the research interaction between different lotus business functions. Maintaining agreed resource balancing between internal teams. Developing key internal capabilities to underpin the development of future powertrains.
Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive or similar honours engineering degree with an overall grade 2:1 or higher. A post graduate qualification would be preferred. Significant understanding of electrification technologies, system design and automotive product development processes Proven signifiant track record of system/component development and delivery within an automotive/aerospace/telecommunications or similar engineering environment. Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework (FMEA, quality planning, PPAP etc).
