Due to continued growth & investment one of the Europe`s leading research organisations has a new vacancy for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team. Applicants must have proven track record designing complex electro-mechanical devices and be experienced managing designs and design teams.

Salary: £ 45,000 - £ 51,000 + excellent pension & benefits

The Role

Working for a leading global research organisation, the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will manage a team looking at new complex projects, the role will involve understanding and clarifying specifications, designing creative solutions to new problems, and managing medium sized projects to agreed time, quality and cost.

Key responsibilities:

Creation and design of complex electro-mechanical designs from concept through systems specifications to detail designs
Supervision of engineers and draughtsman to maintain high design standards and integrate design work
Liaising with customers to report of project progress and to agree priorities
Drive and complete complex design activities within allotted time and with high efficiency
Managing the acceptance, testing and commissioning of complex equipment design
Accountable for line management of a section of mechanical engineers including professional, technical and performance issues
Support project managers in developing budgets for labour and procurement of complex mechanical systems.
Actively promotes mission and values and compliance to company policies and procedures.

The Candidate

You will have previous experience designing complex electro-mechanical components, managing teams and using Finite element techniques. Candidates must have experience using CATIA V5 and generating technical documents/specifications.

With high levels of drive and enthusiasm you must have advanced design skills, excellent attention to detail, good analytical skills and ability to make decisions.
