A unique Engineering start-up is currently looking for a Junior Research Engineer with a bias towards Solid Mechanics to deliver projects across the portfolio. This includes the design, numerical modelling, build and testing of components within lithium-ion batteries, heat exchangers and power generation.
The Junior Research Engineer Solid Mechanics Role:
To contribute to the Control Systems development of project proposals or research projects Work alongside innovative customers in order to achieve project deliverables this will include the occasional travel to conferences / customer sites. To contribute to the full design, numerical modelling, build and test cycle for components. Present findings to senior management and provide feedback to project teams and colleagues.
The Successful Junior Research Engineer Solid Mechanics will be:
Qualified to a Degree level in a related engineering subject Possess 2 years work experience minimum. A background in / strong understanding of the failure mechanisms in solid materials (creep, fatigue, fracture) and the ability to do basic numerical modelling (Finite Element) to predict it. Knowledge of design codes is also desirable but not essential. Demonstrable that they can work with a level of autonomy with supervision required in more complex projects / tasks. Due to travel requirements, personal transportation is desirable.
