Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Senior Research Engineer - Netshape. The purpose of the role is to provide technical leadership and technical governance in materials processing and net shape technologies.

The Senior Research Engineer-Netshape will be responsible for:
Generating new project ideas in alignment with the theme`s strategy. Technical leadership of project and/or work package portfolio up to ~£1m, and of strategic initiatives. Leading the development of proposals and the engagement with existing customers to win repeat business. Liaise with AMP Product Development Manager and Technology Manager to keep them up to date with capability offerings and to identify business development opportunities. Leading and deliver innovative research projects, transferring technology into industry and supporting colleagues, clients and Industrial Members in order to deliver project requirements. This includes support for the Line Manager & Senior staff in the organisation of required resources (people, equipment, marketing collateral and MTC facilities) needed to deliver research projects. Providing technical leadership, mentoring and coaching to other staff while undertaking training to progress your own career development. Ensuring that work is undertaken to meet or exceed the customers` quality expectations and within the budgets and timescales allocated. Tasks may include: researching technologies, benchmarking, down-selection, preparing technical reports, presenting work to customers, producing concepts, implementing solutions, devising and undertaking experiments.
The suitable candidate for the Senior Research Engineer-Netshape will possess the following:
Degree qualified within a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgy or Manufacturing Engineering. Previous experience of manufacturing processes related to Netshape Manufacture and Powder Processing. Demonstrable experience of having problem solving approach to applying technologies. Ability to deconstruct and map engineering processes Strong understanding of material properties ideally exotic alloys and challenges involved with Netshape manufacture. Has lead and delivered complex projects within Netshape or materials processing. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues at all levels. Commercial awareness to identify new opportunities in line with customer strategies. Ability to write technical proposals and write ups.
