As part of the next stage of growth they are seek to appoint a Chief Information Officer (CIO).
This role of CIO is a permanent appointment; however, the company will consider applications from Interim Executives who fulfil the extensive requirements of the role.
The CIO will be responsible for the selection, planning, implementation and management of all the Group IT and core business systems (e.g. CRM, ERP) and back office infrastructure (e.g. Network, Servers).
As an industry leader it is important that the CIO develops a leading-edge IT strategy that provides a platform for the business to not only run an effective internal IT operation, but provides an industry showcase. It is critical the IT platform enables industrial R&D collaboration and exploits new and emerging Digital trends like cloud and at edge compute whilst maintaining class leading IT security to protect our status as an accredited defence system provider
The remit includes main Headquarters plus other sites across the UK and additional remote locations.
Summary of role and responsibilities: Develop and implement a clear IT strategy Effective engagement of the R&D, training and operations communities to ensure an agile, flexible and secure IT environment is developed and maintained. Accountable for the IT performance. Plan the resource profile to enable the support of IT to the business Establish plans, budgets, and KPI`s for ongoing IT investment and performance. Day to day management and direction of the IT activities to ensure excellence of service to all internal and external customers Maintain business continuity and ongoing system compliance for quality audits (e.g. system documentation and backup procedures). Design, build and sustain key relationships across the sites to ensure an evolving and agile IT strategy is developed and maintained. Accountable for the core IT system business performance Provide IT support across the businesses to meet critical daily activities (e.g. event mobilisation) Manage team briefings and mobilise the IT organisation to address business critical issues. Report on performance. Monitoring and presentation of industry standard IT service levels for applications and infrastructure at executive reviews Network with industry peers and attend/present at IT industry events to demonstrate thought leadership. Ensure the resolution of systems outages in line with the company Service Level Agreement for IT. Manage and support a centralised help desk. Ensure compliance with all software and hardware licensing agreements Ensure all IT security breaches are contained and managed in an effective manner. Developing and ensuring that a testing regime is in place Ensure quality and consistency of delivery. Lead and motivate the IT team by demonstrating thought leadership in IT strategy, project implementation methodologies and IT support principles. Maintain the highest available levels of IT security (currently cyber essentials plus) and ensure effective penetration testing and address any issues promptly and effectively
The CIO must be an effective communicator who is comfortable with presentation of strategy both internally and externally, as it is important the business is considered a signpost for how industry should respond to the digital revolution.
A Senior Manager, ideally with a Computer Science or Information Systems Degree, with broad experience in IT strategy development, implementation and operational management. Applications are sought from candidates with at least 10 15 years at IT Manager or IT Director level with extensive experience running IT teams and a strong understanding of the latest trends in IT (Digital, Cloud, AI, Security).
You will have a proven ability to develop and implement an IT strategy whilst understanding the defence and security sector IT requirements and experience of defining and implementing ERP systems.
