The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager - Defence. The purpose of the role is to develop the identified strategic account opportunities to deliver order intake budget for 20/21 and grow the pipeline for this and future financial years.

Reporting to the Director of Business Development and Insight, The Senior Business Development Manager - Defence will identify strategic client relationships and develop joint action plans, developing client centric solutions.
As part of the role you will:
Identify key contacts within targeted clients, developing strong mutually beneficial relationships. Build fruitful and long-lasting working relationships at all levels internally, integrating yourself as a member of the sector team, the business development and insight team, and wider teams across the MTC Take lead responsibility for developing client accounts and capture plans. Develop a new business pipeline for both new and existing accounts where you will be working on a opportunities worth between £3m - £10m per year. Ensure maximum value is derived for clients from their tiered membership working with the membership team. Accountability for taking identified opportunities through from requirements capture to the delivery of compelling value added proposals, in line with current MTC processes. Lead on communication with the client through to receipt of purchase order and proactively seeking customer feedback during and post-delivery of projects. Track all activities through the daily use of the CRM system. Be responsible for providing a 12 month rolling order forecast for use at monthly sector review meetings.
The successful candidate for the Senior Business Development Manager - Defence role will possess the following attributes:
Deep understanding of manufacturing processes within the sector, have proven revenue generating business development experience and be skilled in complex sales. Ability to understand (or have experience of) innovations in manufacturing technology and its application within the ADS sector. Proven experience of developing complex client value propositions and securing substantial business as a result. Previous experience in a client-facing role and working with large business customers. Experience of working within the Aerospace, Defence and Security sector or related sectors. Has situational awareness and emotional intelligence to read and understand the client to win the customer trust and build rapport quickly. Experience with advanced technology, multiple sectors and selling a service rather than a product would be advantageous.
