Artemis Technologies is supported by a superb consortium of engineering and academic partners, with funding from UK Research & Innovation (UKRI), in pursuit of research and development excellence.


The Role:

Artemis Technologies is seeking a Head of Drivetrain Integration and Mechanical Systems to support its mission to become the market leader in high-speed zero-emissions vessels and propulsion systems, to lead the decarbonization of the maritime industry.
The Head of Drivetrain Integration and Mechanical Systems will spearhead the successful delivery of the engineering and integration of the Drivetrain to the innovative Artemis eFoilerTM propulsion system.

The key responsibilities will include building and leading the Drivetrain department by defining strategy and planning for the company goals alongside leading the Drivetrain integration and engineering process. You will make a significant contribution to the design of the Artemis eFoilerTM system including 3D design for systems integration, control systems, the vessel primary and auxiliary systems and 2D design support for production deliverables for the manufacturing processes.

The Head of Drivetrain and Mechanical Systems will work in close liaison with the Head of Naval Architecture and Head of Manufacture to deliver accurate manufacturing information and ensure effective inter-departmental liaison with all project stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes. You will support boat development programs where required ensuring both the required safety and design compliances are achieved - aligned with continually upholding the core values of Artemis Technologies throughout your work and engagement with others.


The Person:

The Head of Drivetrain Integration and Mechanical Systems will possess extensive experience within mechanical engineering ideally developed within the fields of maritime electrification and power train development or alternatively the motorsport sector as a comparable ‘near-neighbour` technology.

The successful applicant will possess excellent working knowledge of the maritime application of hydraulics, be well versed within 3D CAD and PLM solutions and be conversant with FEA for Isotropic materials. Knowledge of maritime vessel/sub systems and yacht/vessel dynamics is highly advantageous for the role.

Leading the Drivetrain Integration and Mechanical Systems team, you will be a proven leader in the management of complex project design teams and able to demonstrate expert knowledge within Drivetrain systems and mechanical engineering with solid awareness of hydraulics and FEA activity.

The Head of Drivetrain will be highly familiar with innovation-driven environments, demonstrating solid commercial understanding and acutely aware of project delivery milestones and gateways. You will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, superb written communication skills and the ability to lead and engage talented and passionate team members to work in a cooperative and collaborative format.
