Artemis Technologies is an applied technology spin-off from the Artemis Racing America`s Cup Team, founded in 2017 to commercialise the hydro-foiling and tool chain intellectual property developed by the team. Artemis are ably supported by a superb consortium of engineering and academic partners, with funding from UK Research & Innovation (UKRI), in pursuit of research and development excellence.
Artemis Technologies are seeking a Head of Flight Controls & Electronics to support them in their mission to become the market leader in high-speed zero-emissions vessels and propulsion systems, to lead the decarbonization of the maritime industry.
The Head of Flight Controls & Electronics will be responsible for the design and engineering of all control systems, wiring, HMI and power electronics. Key responsibilities include leading the Flight Control department through effective strategy and leading the engineering process for control algorithms including surface actuation, flight control augmentation, and autopilot functionality.
Additionally, you will lead the engineering process for battery and power management including the Vessel charging systems.
The Head of Flight Controls & Electronics will work in close liaison with the compliance team to ensure the appropriate certifications, as well as support and participate in system validation for Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL) and Software-In-The-Loop (SIL). You will work collaboratively with the Artemis Technologies teams building good relationships across all areas of the business. The Head of Flight Controls & Electronics will continually uphold the core values of Artemis Technologies throughout their work and engagement with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
The Head of Flight Controls & Electronics will ideally possess extensive experience within control system design with strong working knowledge of rapid prototyping of compiled code and ECU hardware. Open ECU` experience is also highly advantageous for the role. You will be well versed in FMEA processes and demonstrate expert knowledge of electronics developed within sectors such as Maritime, Aerospace, Motorsport/Formula 1 or Automotive electronics and have strong knowledge of RTOS, CANBus and Ethernet interfaces.
Qualified ideally to a minimum of degree-level or equivalent, The Head of Flight Controls & Electronics will be highly skilled in the MathWorks environment ideally MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, Embedded Coder and MATLAB Coder - coupled with technical skills within tuning control systems and calibrating sensors, controller design, system identification techniques and FMEA processes.
