This is an exciting new opportunity responsible for managing the key relationships for the Manufacturing Technology across the South Oxfordshire community.

You will work closely with key stakeholders within the region to develop a living Cluster Development Strategic plan, and determine how the MTC can best work with partners to drive sustainable impact in the area and address the key industrial manufacturing challenges. You will be involved in creating case study material to demonstrate what is being achieved and work with colleagues across the MTC to link up technology roadmaps with the long term needs of the community.

We are looking for a dynamic, driven and well-connected individual who is familiar with the key players in the region and is comfortable working across a number of manufacturing based sectors such as Space, Energy, Medical, Pharmaceutical etc. You will be a self-starter and be able to absorb sometimes complex technical information and then convey this information in a straightforward and logical manner for all stakeholders.

The Role

You will be responsible for building fruitful working relationships at all levels, internally and externally, with advanced, multiple sector regional clusters defining and validating the Drive the definition, validation, communication and implementation of the local Development Strategic plan

Lead, with partners, definition of industrial challenges that the MTC and its partners are able to develop into collaborative research projects.
Represent MTC in regional and national groups as appropriate
Generate regional opportunities, leading strategic client and stakeholder relationships with key senior decision makers across Industry, Research Sectors and Public Office
Manage stakeholder engagement, aligning value propositions for MTC with identified industrial
Encouraging active participation by partners in a focussed membership and events programme.
Developing cluster change/improvement roadmaps and aligning them with those from the MTC and other Catapult centres,
Identification of relevant (to the MTC) CR&D opportunities and support consortia building around these,
Introduction and support use of relevant Technology Adoption Models (TAM) and similar tools to understand the TRL and MRLs within the cluster and the strengths & gaps within the current provision,
Work with MTC/AMTC skills and training teams where key capability gaps.
Promote the offer of the Cluster and MTC regionally, nationally and internationally where appropriate to do so.
Demonstrate the impact and outputs of the clustering activities and onward communication of these.
Engage with the industrial sector team and MSS/PMI business development communities where relevant single client revenue generating opportunities are identified.


The Person

The individual needs the ability to understand (or have experience of) innovations in manufacturing technology and its application within the cluster, able to operate independently but recognise and integrate with the team environments as required.
Ideally Degree qualified within a relevant subject, you will have a technical or industrial background within Collaborative Research and Development including an understanding of public sector funding mechanisms, manufacturing exposure and a proven ability within a customer focused environment with a network of contacts and familiarity with the region and its knowledge base. Previous experience with working with Local Enterprise Partnerships and / or Universities would be an advantage.
Understanding of financial targets or a P&L cost centre would be advantageous.
