The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Technology Manager – Informatics.

The purpose of the Technology Manager - Informatics role is to provide leadership of the Manufacturing Informatics Department and to manage and coordinate the respective functional leads within the Department to meet the strategically and commercially requirements inclusive of:

The Role

The Technology Manager - Informatics will be responsible for technical leadership on projects, with particular focus on producing state-of-the-art demonstrations involving industrial digital technologies – AI, data analytics, industrial interoperability, extended reality (augmented and mixed reality), systems integration;

Duties and responsibilities include:

Business Performance & Budgeting; this will include working with Chief Engineer Digital Engineering Group to develop an annual budget for the department and managing the Manufacturing Informatics Department performance on key metrics.
Technology Road-mapping, Product Development and Governance; this will include contributing and co-ordinating Technology Roadmaps and delivering and maintaining value propositions (products) that the industrial sectors are able to sell in support of the Chief Digital Officer;
Securing funding for capability / new value proposition development; this includes managing the creation and delivery of ‘Core Research Project`, ‘Internal Major Project` and ‘Collaborative Public Funding` proposals to gain investment in the ideation/innovation phases of the Manufacturing Informatics Department`s value propositions.

The Person

The successful candidate for the Technology Manager – Informatics role will possess the following attributes:

A strong understanding of Digital Engineering technologies and their respective Industrial application.
Have an understanding / appreciation of the challenges in the adoption of digital technologies.
Ideally you will have an Engineering degree, preferably systems engineering. Other degrees such as mechanical, electrical, software and computer science maybe suitable as well.
Experience on systems design and development in the areas relevant to manufacturing informatics would be desirable
Strong influencing/negotiating skills with decision makers in client organisations.
Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
Have a proven ability in developing strategy.
