Artemis Technologies is an applied technology spin-off from the Artemis Racing America‘s Cup Team, founded in 2017 to commercialise the hydro-foiling and tool chain intellectual property developed by the team. Artemis Technologies are seeking a Senior Controls Embedded Software Engineer to join the Technical team to support them in their mission to become the market leader in high-speed zero-emissions vessels and propulsion systems, to lead the decarbonization of the maritime industry.
The Senior Controls Embedded Software Engineer will develop controls software laws and algorithms to direct the Artemis eFoiler vessels including ride height controllers and power management systems. You will collaborate closely with the Artemis Technologies simulation team and simulation engineers to validate control systems in advance of real-life testing.
Key responsibilities include leading the development of functional specifications within the design team and design and optimization of control laws and algorithms for boat systems. This includes control surface actuation, flight control augmentation and autopilot functionality project activity.
Additionally, the Senior Controls Embedded Software Engineer will perform simulation of code and algorithms, compile embedded code, support in-system validation and related calibration and on-water testing. You will provide ad hoc support to the wider vessel programmes and work collaboratively with the Artemis Technologies teams, building good relationships across all areas of the business.
The Senior Controls Embedded Software Engineer will continually uphold the core values of Artemis Technologies throughout their work and engagement with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Qualified ideally to a minimum of degree-level or equivalent, the Senior Controls Embedded Software Engineer will possess a number of years‘ experience within control systems design and significant experience of rapid prototype embedded development life cycle activity using ECU hardware, preferably OpenECU. Experience in vehicle dynamics and systems/physics modelling are highly advantageous for the role in addition to expert working knowledge of Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow and Simulink Coder.
Additionally, usage of Model-Based Development (MBD) techniques including Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop and creating code in Python are hugely desirable skill and experience sets for the position. This role will be based at Artemis Technologies in Lisburn, Belfast and we welcome discussions with applicants on how relocation to the region can be supported by the organization within a sensible framework.
