The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to be based at the Liverpool Facility. The purpose of the role is to turn customer requirements into a method of manufacture that can then be executed to meet the customer demand within the required lead-time and cost.

As the Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for: Continuously improve manufacturing methods in order to reduce lead-time, reduce cost and minimise the chance of non-conformance. Be involved in the operation of the manufacturing processes and systems to deliver the final product. Influence technology roadmaps to ensure that future manufacturing capability is developed and deployed into the Workshop to further optimise manufacturing methods within designated areas of research. Manage non-conformance, to create methods to bring non-conforming product back within specification. Overall day-to-day management of the Liverpool facility schedule and its performance against commitments for schedule and cost whilst ensuring that quality and safety requirements are maintained. Work within supply chain and engineering teams to integrate the operational vision and engineering requirements in to specifications that the supply chain can enact. Creating manufacturing methods and sequences. Working with the customer to optimise the design of products (DFM) to ensure an optimum manufacturing method can be generated. Managing the introduction of new manufacturing capability into the workshop. Optimise current manufacturing capability to ensure continuous reduction of waste.
The Manufacturing Engineer role is best suited to someone who has worked within high volume manufacturing environments typically within FMCG, Food or Pharmaceutical industries. In addition to the following: Ability to solve complex manufacturing problems. Previous experience creating and defining appropriate manufacturing methods and sequences. Strong background in NPI and NPD. Proven capability of incorporating multiple products through a single manufacturing line. Experience with production line change over or changing physical equipment. Conversant with creating Value Stream Maps. Previous experience in continuous improvement and application of lean tools/methodologies. Able to design and create specific tooling to meet customer requirements and minimise cycle times.
