Are you interested in the opportunity to work as a Software Engineer for a Coventry based company involved in automotive electric vehicle design and development. You will be responsible for both developing and testing low-level functions for battery management systems.

The Role


As the Software Engineer you will design, implement, debug and test Simulink software using Matlab/Simulink coder. Design, implement, debug and test custom Simulink blocks/interfaces with low level software using TLC and C code. Read, understand and debug auto-coded C from Simulink models. You will create software that links to requirements as per ISO-26262/V-model process and understand and be able to contribute to technical discussions on software (Simulink, C code, architecture). Implement and execute unit tests on software using industry standard tools (Simulink test manager) and run static analysis tools and correct reported issues (Polyspace) following MISRA and MAAB standards.


Other responsibilities include:

  • Bug identification, reporting and fixing.

  • Writing documentation for all code produced.

  • Use a version control system to manage software versions (SVN).

  • Support software team with other products as and when needed.

  • Issue resolution; both independently and as part of a team.

  • Manage time between multiple assigned tasks/work packages and be able to succinctly report progress in project meetings and provide realistic time estimations for planning.

  • Support lead software engineer with creating design documents for Simulink generated software.

The Person


As the Software Engineer you will have strong Matlab/Simulink skills and experience with embedded coder, this is essential. Experience with auto-code generation in Simulink and TLC files, again this is essential. You will have experience of ISO-26262 and/or V-model development lifecycle (developing code to set requirements, unit testing, code coverage etc).


Other responsibilities include:

  • Experience of plant modelling using Simulink.

  • Experience of SIL, MIL & HIL testing of software.

  • Experience with MISRA and MAAB coding guidelines.

  • Experience with version control systems (SVN, GIT) is also very important.

  • Experience with CAN, UDS, XCP implementation.
